Drive Recovery Tab

 

The first tab of this HTFS Recovery application includes Quick Recovery, Advance Recovery, Deleted File Recovery and Search Lost Volume options.

 

• Quick Recovery - Performs quick scanning of SCO Unix hard drive. It works in most of the volume corruption scenarios.
• Advance Recovery - Scans each cluster of hard drive. It has better chances of EAFS Recovery.
• Deleted File Recovery - Recovers recently deleted files. It performs RAW scan of entire media for deleted files.
• Search Lost Volume - Scans hard disk for lost/deleted volumes. It searches each sector of disk.

 

Resume Recovery Tab :

 

This tab allows you to select previously saved image file (.img file) or Scan Information to resume recovery from the last saved point. It help you perform recovery in few easy steps. The scan information and disk image are saved in a single file with .img extension. You can select the image through browse option of software and recover data from it.

 

Advanced Options Tab :

 

This tab provides you features, such as Drive Imaging and Drive Status.

 

• Drive Imaging- It further include two options- Create Image and Clone Disk.
  • Create Image - You can create image of whole disk, volume, or selected region of disk/volume in a single file by using this feature of Stellar Phoenix SCO OpenServer Recovery software. The image file can easily be used to restart recovery later. The size of image file would be same as the size of disk/volume. Make sure that the destination disk, on which you save image file, has enough disk space to store the file.
    
    This option helps you to enhance the UNIX Data Recovery speed on bad sector affected media. Usual recovery methods, such as Quick Recovery, Advance Recovery, and Deleted File Recovery, take more than time usual on such drives. You can select 'Continue' option to begin recovery from newly created image file or recover data later through Resume Recovery feature. When you create image of entire hard drive, it lists all the volumes in selected disk.
  • Clone Disk - It enables you to create exact copy of SCO OpenServer drive, which contains operating system, installed application, user/application data, and disk structure, on another drive. The size of destination drive must be equal to or larger than the size of source drive.
• Drive Status - It displays information of attached hard drive. Drive Status box displays disk statistics like serial number, model number, temperature, size, firmware revision number, S.M.A.R.T. information and status. Furthermore, S.M.A.R.T. Information is also given in the S.M.A.R.T. information box.

 

Recovery Service Tab :

 

This tab provides information about the data recovery services delivered by Stellar Information Systems Limited. Recovery can be done for physically damaged hard drives after read/write head crash, electronic damage, natural disasters, spindle motor damage, and other such situations. The recovery is carried out in the Class 100 Clean Rooms set by Stellar.

 

Additional Features :

 

In addition to SCO OpenServer Data Recovery features, this application also performs some additional functions that help you find files in recovery results, save scan information, filter results on basis of file signature, and regenerate result tree through file extensions. How can I recover my data from Drives having corrupted VTOC ?

To recover data from drives having corrupted VTOC, follow these steps :

• Click the 'Select Physical Disk' button on the 'Icon' toolbar.
• A dialog box appears listing the physical disk(s) available.
• Select the physical disk that contains the corrupt or missing logical drive.
• Another dialog box pops up. Select 'Search for Logical Drives / Volumes'.
• Phoenix would scan the hard disk for all the lost partitions and would present the list of found partitions.
• Select the corrupt or missing logical drive from the list.
• Phoenix analyses the drive data structures and file system attributes and displays the directory tree.
• Select 'Recover All' or select the file(s) and folder(s) which you feel are important and then, select 'Recover Selected'.

 

(Please make sure that do not recover the data on the same drive from which you are trying to recover the data).
