Stellar Phoenix Split PST File 2.0 is a powerful yet secure PST file splitter that splits large Outlook PST file into smaller PSTs without affecting the original PST file. To use this splitting tool, you should 'Select' the type of splitting operation that you want to perform, Split single file or multiple files. Then, according to the selected option, you would get the criteria to split the PST file(s). Provide the preferences to split the PST file and start the splitting operation by running a 'Scan' of the PST file. Once the splits are created, you should 'Save' the PST files and the log of the splitting operation. You can import the resultant PST file(s) in Outlook to use the new PST file. Also, you can continue working on the original PST file as it is unaffected by the file splitting.

The main interface of the Split PST software comprises of two main tabs: 'Split Single File' and 'Split Multiple Files'. These tabs are further sub-divided and include various options, as mentioned underneath:

Split Single File: Once you click this tab, a new 'Single File Splitter' window opens that has four main options:

Toolbar Options:

• Select PST File: The 'Select PST File' option allows you to navigate and select the required PST file from a known location.
• Find PST File: If you don't know the exact location of your PST file, 'Find PST File' option lets you search different drives and folders on your computer for files with PST extension.
• Change Destination: The PST File Splitter takes the original file location as default to restore the split files. However, with the use of 'Change Destination' option, you can change the destination to the one you require.
• Split PST File: When you click 'Split PST File', its displays another window where you can specify the criteria to split the file. The options to Split PST are mentioned under 'Select Splitting option', which are:
  • By Date: Selecting 'By Date' option allows you to split a single PST file with e-mails sent or received in a date range. It further gives you two options listed under 'Option Description':
  • 'in the last' option allows you to split the PST file with e-mails sent or received in the last 'x' number of months.
  • 'between' option allows you to split the PST file with e-mails sent or received between a required date range.
  • By Size: Selecting 'By Size' option lets you slice the PST file on the basis of a specific file size. You can choose any size limit between 200 MB and 2 GB under 'Option Description' and hence specify the size of each slice individually at a time.
  • By Mail ID: Selecting 'By Mail ID' option lets you extract e-mails exchanged (sent or received) with specific mail IDs. All e-mails with the specified mail IDs in 'To', 'CC', and 'BCC' fields are extracted. As you select this option and click 'Next', it starts the file scanning process to retrieve all unique mail IDs the file contains and shows them in a list, from where you can choose the needed mail Ids.
  • Select & Split: Selecting 'Select & Split' option allows you to create a separate PST file containing only the required folders. As you click on this option and click 'Next', the application lists all the folders found in the file and lets you select the required folders.

Split Multiple Files: You can split multiple PST files located at different locations (even at networked disk) or at a single location (in a single folder) in a single operation. This feature further offers two main options to split the PST file by 'Time' or 'Size'.

• Split by Time: Selecting 'Split by Time' option allows you to specify and split multiple PST files on the basis of required time interval. On Selecting this, you get a 'Multiple File Time Splitter' window having options listed in the table below.
• Split by Size: Selecting 'Split by Size' option allows you to specify and split multiple PST files on the basis of required file size. On choosing this, 'Multiple File Size Splitter’ windows pops up that again gives various options enlisted in the table below.

Note: In case of 'split by size’, the file size should be more than 200 MB.

Split by Time and Split by Size follow a common approach to select the PST file - 'Select Folder', 'Select File', and 'Select Batch Files'.

Select Folder

This option lets you select a folder, in which multiple PST files have been stored. On selecting the folder, all the PST files saved in that folder are displayed in a separate box. You can then select the required files to split on the basis of time or file size and then click 'Next'. After you select the files,another window - 'Customize Split Options' opens up. Here you can define the criteria to automate the split process. Various criteria on the basis of which PST needs to be split can be defined as follows:
