Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 uses effective recovery procedures that scan a Windows-based hard drive and recover all kinds of deleted files, including .doc, .xls, .mdb, and .dbf. The wizard-style interface of the deleted file recovery application enables the user to perform recovery easily and quickly. Compatible with Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000, Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus software is embedded with options like, Raw Recovery, Deleted File Recovery, Disk Cloning, Disk Imaging, Deleted Email Recovery, S.M.A.R.T feature, and Resume Recovery.

Recovery Tabs:

The welcome screen of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 provides the user with four different tabs to systematically recover deleted files. These tabs are Deleted File Recovery, Email Recovery, Resume Recovery, and Advance Options:

Deleted File Recovery: This is the first tab on the welcome screen of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus. It is categorized into – Quick Recovery and Advanced Recovery. Each option uses different sets of algorithms to perform deleted file recovery.

• Quick Recovery: This feature performs fast scan of selected hard drive partition/volume or removable storage media. The user can click on 'Load Image' option to recover deleted files from an image file. Once the scanning is complete, the user can view all the recoverable files deleted from the selected media.
• Advanced Recovery: The second option under Deleted File Recovery tab, when clicked, it performs an extensive scan of the selected hard drive partition/volume or removable storage media. Although the option takes more time in comparison to 'Quick Recovery', it displays all the traces of deleted file from every single sector of the selected source volume.

Email Recovery: The second tab on the welcome wizard enables the user to recover deleted e-mail(s) that had been originally created in MS Outlook e-mail application or MS Outlook Express e-mail application. The user only needs to specify the path of the file to recover e-mails. The tab consists of two options – Microsoft Outlook Email Recovery and Outlook Express Email Recovery.

• Microsoft Outlook Email Recovery: The first option scans the PST (Personal Storage) files and displays all the deleted e-mail(s) in a tree-view format. The user can save the displayed e-mails in a .pst file format or as individual MSG or EML file.
• Outlook Express Email Recovery: The second option scans the DBX (Database Extension) files to perform recovery of deleted e-mail(s). The user can preview the recoverable e-mails and save them as individual EML format.

Resume Recovery: The third tab on Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 welcome screen, can recover deleted files and data from an image file or from the scan information file. These scan information files with .img extension, allow the user to resume recovery at any time.

Advanced Options: The last tab of the Deleted File Recovery software, this tab extends three powerful features viz, Raw Recovery, Drive Imaging, and Drive Status.

Raw Recovery: The first option under 'Advance Options' tab, Raw recovery allows signature-based deleted file search from the selected storage media. By default, raw recovery has been incorporated with 150 commonly-searched file signatures. Yet, it gives the user an option to add specific file signatures as per his/her requirements.

Drive Imaging: The second 'advanced option' of this deleted file recovery software is mainly used when the hard drive has developed bad sectors. Drive Imaging is further categorized into:

• Create Image: allows the user to create a sector by sector image of selected hard drive, CD, DVD, USB drive, etc. and save it in .img file format.
• Clone Disk: creates a mirror image (exact replica) of a hard drive (files, applications, file structure, etc) on specified hard drive. The size of the specified drive must be equal or more that the source drive.

Drive Status: The last option under 'Advance Options' tab scans hard drive for their S.M.A.R.T (Self Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) status. It displays complete information (Model number, Size, Serial number, Status, Temperature, Total Sectors, Sectors per track, Number of Cylinders, etc.) of the hard drive. The information can be used to identify any physical problem in the hard drive.

Additional Features:

• Save Scan: This feature allows the user to store the scanned information (.img) at required location. The file can be later on used to perform recovery.
• Find File: Allows the user to find a particular file. Search can be performed on the basis of file extension or its name.
• File Mask: is used to narrows down the scanned result and creates a new tree structure that contains selected file types.
• File Filter: This feature allows the user to perform selective file recovery on the basis of file extensions.
