- Check all the connections
of the media (power and data connections).
- If this fails, try
connecting the same media on another working machine.
- If the above measure
also fails, confirm whether the controller card is OK.
- If this also fails
then check if your hard drive is getting detected by the
BIOS
then download the demo version of our Data Recovery Software
Stellar Phoenix to see your lost data, files and folders.
- If you still face
problems stop working on the media and contact our
Data Recovery Services for retrieving lost data.

- Don't run any repair
utility because these utilities can further aggravate
the problem in recovering lost files. These utilities
are made to rectify any anomalies in the file system &
get you working and not to recover lost data.
- Don't let anybody,
even your support engineer, experiment with the media.
-
Don't work on the media otherwise chances of recovering
lost files becomes less.
Preventing Data Loss !
- Backup - Data can
usually be easily duplicated. It is important to make
backups of all of your most important data, documents,
and programs.
- Viruses - Take steps
to protect yourself from computer viruses. Keep a virus
detection program on your computer and keep updating the
virus information on a regular basis.
- Install more RAM
into your system. This will prevent the system from accessing
the hard disk as "cache." We recommend 128MB
for Windows 98 or earlier versions of Mac OS, and 256MB
for Windows NT, 2000, Linux, Unix, and Mac OS 8.1 or greater.
- One of the best measures
will be that software like
Stellar Shield (helps in restoring recovered data)
must be pre-reinstalled in your machine so that in future
if any logical crash happens your data is not lost but instead
is restored instantly thus helping you in recovering lost
files.
