The software is able to perform Deleted File Recovery, Raw Recovery, Resume Recovery, Deleted Email Recovery, Disk Imaging, Disk Cloning, and Disk Status Checking. Recovery Tabs :
Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 provides different Deleted File Recovery options in the form of tabs. These tabs include Deleted File Recovery, Email Recovery, Resume Recovery, and Advance Options.
Deleted File Recovery - The Deleted File Recovery tab of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 includes two options- Quick Recovery and Advance Recovery. Both these options are different as they use different scanning procedures.
- Quick Recovery - This option performs quick scan of selected storage media. It enables you to select only one volume at a time. Scanning through this method is efficient and quick.
- Advance Recovery - This option can thoroughly scan the selected hard drive partition. The scanning process in this method is slow, but more effective to Recover Deleted Files. You will find all the deleted files using this options.
Email Recovery - This tab of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 enables you to recover deleted emails supported by Microsoft Outlook Express and Microsoft Outlook email clients. This tab includes two options:
- Microsoft Outlook Email Recovery- Use this option to recover deleted emails from PST (Personal Storage) file of Microsoft Outlook. It will show all recoverable emails in tree format. You can save recovered emails in either .pst file or individual .msg or .eml file.
- Outlook Express Email Recovery- Use this option to recover deleted emails from DBX (Outlook Express Data File) file. After scanning the file, this File Recovery Software will list all emails in tree format. You can save these emails as an individual .eml file.
Resume Recovery - This tab of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 allows you restart recovery either using image file or scan information file. Both of these files are saved in the form of .img file. Select the .img file to resume recovery at any point. If the scan is incomplete, only those files would be recovered that are included in scan process. To recover rest of the files, rescan the drive.
Advance Options - This tab of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 includes three options- Raw Recovery, Drive Imaging, and Drive Status.
- Raw Recovery - Use this feature to perform signature based search on entire hard drive volume, USB drive, CD, DVD, or any other storage media to Recover Deleted Files. This option is helpful to recover data from Raw hard drive, which has no file system or the file system is severely damaged. Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0 allows you to either select the source drive or define region to scan. You can not select region from disk partition, if you are performing Raw recovery for selected Windows partition.
This Deleted File Recovery software has a long list of supported files names for Raw Recovery. If you can not find required file type, you can add it. While adding a file type, you need to provide software name, size, file extension, and header information of the file.
- Drive Imaging- This option includes two features- Create Image and Clone Disk.
- Create Image - Using this feature of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0, you can create image of hard drive, hard drive volume, CD, DVD, USB drive, and selected region of any of these storage media. The disk image is saved in the form of .img file. The size of .img file is same as the size of source. Image file can be used to resume recovery later. The image files of DVD and CD can only be used to perform Raw Recovery.
- Clone Disk - Using this option of Stellar Phoenix File Recovery Plus v4.0, you can create exact replica of hard drive on another drive. The size of destination drive must be equal to or larger than the source drive. It copies all data, applications, operating system, and hard drive structure on the destination drive.
- Drive Status - This option displays information of attached hard drive The Drive Status box lists model number, size, serial number, status, temperature, S.M.A.R.T. feature and firmware revision number. Additionally, S.M.A.R.T. information is also displayed in S.M.A.R.T. information box. Drive Information box displays Total Sectors, Sectors per track, Number of Cylinders, and Number of heads on hard drive. Information about existing hard drive partitions is displayed in Volume Information box.

- Save Scan - Allows to save the scan information of hard drive in .img file. You can use .img file to restart recovery later.
