How to get the desired result by editing of file properties in files, after the file signature based search failed to give the required files?
File signature is a unique identification of a file and can be an
efficient means to locate the lost file in the drive. Stellar CD DVD
Data Recovery software provides powerful file signature based recovery
in the name 'Surface Scan' or 'Raw Recovery'. The software stores most of the commonly used files with their signatures, from which you can select the
one you need and perform the recovery operation smoothly. However,
sometimes, the list of files in the software does not include your
required file don't be disappointed the software provides option to add a new file type
to the existing list. You can add several details of a file type,
including Software Name, Group, File Extension, Header (in hexadecimal)
and At Offset (in decimal).
Steps to Add a new File Type in the CD DVD Recovery tool:
-> The window shows all the file types already there in the software. On the bottom right, click the 'Append Header File' button.
-> The 'Add New Header' window opens. Click 'Add' button.
-> Another dialog box, named 'Add/Edit Header Files' opens. Provide the below details about the new File:
-> Software Name: Give the name of the software or file.
-> Group: Give the name of the group, in which the new file type will be added.
-> File Extension: Give the extension of the file.
-> Max File Size: The maximum size of the file in the disk.
-> Header (in hexadecimal): Give the file header value.
-> At Offset (in decimal): Give the offset value of the file.
-> Click 'OK' to add the file to the list.
Steps to Remove a File Type:
-> From the 'Add New Header' window, select the file type and click 'Remove'.
Once, you remove the problematic file type, you can add the correct file details to scan the drive for the desired results. After giving all these details in the Add/Edit Header File window, you need to scan one more time to recover the required files. This option refines the file search process and helps in recovering the lost files more efficiently.
