Data backup is a very important measure to protect your crucial data from future disasters and accidents. It is recommended to preserve at least two copies of your precious data on your computer. If you are using Windows XP based computer then you have a small inbuilt backup utility named as Backup.
To use Windows XP backup utility, follow these steps:
Go to Start All Programs Accessories System Tools Backup
The Backup or Restore Wizard will start
Now, click Next button
Then what do you want to do? window pops up. Here you will find two radio buttons; Backup files and settings and Restore files and settings. By default Backup files and settings is selected, click Next
You have four main options to choose what to back up:
My documents and settings: Through this setting you can backup files in your My Documents folder, your favorites, desktop, and cookies.
Everyones documents and settings: This backup option includes every users My Documents folder, your favorites, desktop, and cookies.
All information on this computer: Using this option, you can take backup of all the data present in your computer. This option is particularly helpful, as it also enables to create a System recovery Disk, which can be used to restore Windows in case if major operating system failure occurs.
Let me choose what to backup: Through this option, you can choose all your desired data for backup. However, if you are not sure about what data you should backup then ignore this option.
