It loads the shared mailbox automatically when the user logins to web app or starts Outlook.<\/p><p>In some cases, this may not work and you may need to disable the auto-mapping feature manually through command-line interface for the user to restore access to the shared mailbox. In the following example, we are revoking the permission of <strong>support@abc.com<\/strong> from <strong>john@microsoft.com<\/strong> user.<\/li>\n<\/ul><pre class=\"wp-block-code command_container\"><code>Remove-MailboxPermission -Identity support@abc.com -User john@abc.com -AccessRights FullAccess<\/code><\/pre><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Then, assign the full access permission to the shared mailbox again using the following command and disable the auto-mapping.<\/li>\n<\/ul><pre class=\"wp-block-code command_container\"><code>Add-MailboxPermission -Identity support@abc.com -User john@abc.com -AccessRights FullAccess -AutoMapping:$false<\/code><\/pre><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You may now add the shared mailbox manually in the Outlook account, which will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/recreate-ost-file-outlook-2007-2010-2013-2016\/\">recreate a new OST file<\/a>. The old one will become orphaned and inaccessible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat the above steps for each user to allow access to the shared mailbox.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solution 3: Add Shared Mailbox Manually<\/strong><\/h3><p>If the shared mailbox is not showing, you can try to manually add it. Follow these steps:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In Outlook, go to&nbsp;<strong>File&nbsp;<\/strong>&gt;<strong>&nbsp;Account Settings&nbsp;<\/strong>&gt;&nbsp;<strong>Account Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under&nbsp;<strong>E-mail<\/strong>&nbsp;tab, double-click on your email to open the settings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>More Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under the&nbsp;<strong>Advanced<\/strong>&nbsp;tab, click and enable the&nbsp;<strong>Download shared folders&nbsp;<\/strong>option.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"340\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/enable-download-shared-folder-option.png\" alt=\"enable download shared folder option\" class=\"wp-image-104154 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/enable-download-shared-folder-option.png 340w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/enable-download-shared-folder-option-243x300.png 243w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 340px) 100vw, 340px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click<strong> Add&hellip; <\/strong>and type the Shared Mailbox name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>OK <\/strong>&gt;<strong> Apply <\/strong>&gt;<strong> OK.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><p>Restart Outlook and check if you can access the Shared Mailbox.<\/p><p><strong>Solution 4: Uncheck and Check Cached Exchange Mode<\/strong><\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/article\/cached-exchange-mode-in-outlook.php\">Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook<\/a> stores a copy of mailbox (OST file) on the local storage and allows offline access to mailbox items. If there are issues with this mode, then the shared mailbox may not appear in Outlook. You can disable and then enable the Cached Exchange mode to see if it helps. Follow the steps mentioned below:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Launch your Outlook application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <strong>File<\/strong> tab.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Account Settings &gt; Account Settings.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose your email account and click the <strong>Change<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap <strong>More Settings<\/strong> and click on the <strong>Advanced <\/strong>tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Navigate to the <strong>Cached Exchange Mode. <\/strong>Disable the option and then enable it.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"328\" height=\"455\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Cached-Exchange-Mode.png\" alt=\"Navigate to the Cached Exchange Mode\" class=\"wp-image-190840 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Cached-Exchange-Mode.png 328w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Cached-Exchange-Mode-216x300.png 216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Now, restart Outlook and see if the problem is resolved.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solution 5: Recreate Outlook Profile<\/strong><\/h3><p>It is possible that your email profile is corrupt or damaged, preventing you from accessing the shared mailbox. In such a case, you may try <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/article\/create-a-new-profile-on-outlook.php\">creating a new Outlook profile<\/a> and setup your email account. The Autodiscover service may map the shared mailbox to your user account. The steps are as follows:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Close Outlook and open&nbsp;<strong>Control Panel<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find and click the&nbsp;<strong>Mail<\/strong>&nbsp;option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Show Profiles<\/strong>&nbsp;and then click<strong>&nbsp;Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the profile name and click&nbsp;<strong>OK<\/strong>. A setup wizard will open.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your Microsoft 365 credentials to create your account with this new profile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once created, close the&nbsp;<strong>Control Panel&nbsp;<\/strong>and start&nbsp;<strong>Outlook<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the&nbsp;<strong>Profile Name&nbsp;<\/strong>dropdown, choose your new profile name and click&nbsp;<strong>OK.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"338\" height=\"157\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/choose-the-office-365-profile.png\" alt=\"choose the office 365 profile\" class=\"wp-image-104155 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/choose-the-office-365-profile.png 338w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/choose-the-office-365-profile-300x139.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This will open Outlook with your newly configured profile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wait for a while until the synchronization is finished.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then check all mail folders including shared mailbox. It should be visible by now.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>You may contact the administrator if this also fails to add the&nbsp;<strong>shared mailbox&nbsp;<\/strong>to your user account in Outlook.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"to-wrap-up\"><strong>To Wrap Up<\/strong><\/h2><p>Missing shared mailbox from Outlook client or web app can devoid you from reading or sending emails or collaborating with others in your organization.
