These applications are compatible with numerous web servers and enable email communication using threaded messages.<\/p><p>MacOS uses Apple Mail as their default email client, whereas Microsoft Outlook is a widely used email application from Microsoft Office suite, which also works on macOS. These applications are efficient but different from each other. However, for various reasons, a user may need to import Mac contacts to Outlook, and they are:&nbsp;<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A user <strong>switches <\/strong>from <strong>macOS <\/strong>to <strong>Windows<\/strong>, and wants to use Outlook as an email client.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When an Apple computer user wants to share contacts with a Windows user.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A user wanting to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/export-apple-mailbox-mbox-to-windows-outlook\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">move from Apple Mail to Outlook on Windows<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>Since, many users have reasons to move from macOS to Windows and therefore, need to export contacts from Mac and import them to Outlook. Hence, this article provides instructions as well as guidance on how to use macOS contacts with Outlook.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-import-macos-contacts-into-outlook\"><strong>How to Import macOS Contacts into Outlook<\/strong><\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open <strong>Outlook<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>File &rarr; Import<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Import-macOS-Contacts.jpg\" alt=\"Import macOS Contacts\" class=\"wp-image-148961 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" width=\"261\" height=\"305\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Import-macOS-Contacts.jpg 476w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Import-macOS-Contacts-256x300.jpg 256w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Import-macOS-Contacts-150x176.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 261px) 100vw, 261px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select the type of information you want to <strong>import<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A &ndash;<\/strong> Outlook 2011 data is used when upgrading from Office 2011 to a newer version, such as Office 2016.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>B &ndash; <\/strong>Outlook for Windows Archive File is used when transferring contacts from the Windows version of Outlook to the MacOS version.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>C &ndash;<\/strong> Outlook for Mac Archive File is used when transferring contacts from the same version of Outlook for Mac.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click one of the above options listed, and then click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After that, click <strong>Import<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once import is completed, then click <strong>&lsquo;Done&rsquo;<\/strong> or <strong>&lsquo;Finished&rsquo;<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>This will successfully import the contacts to Microsoft Outlook.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"more-tips-for-using-macos-contacts-with-outlook\"><strong>More Tips for using macOS Contacts with Outlook<\/strong><\/h2><p>In Outlook for Mac, contacts are automatically assigned categories when you have your Address Book contacts in groups.<\/p><p>There are chances that notes and photos are backed up in the VCF file. To avoid this, go to <strong>Contacts &gt; Preferences &gt; vCard<\/strong>, and then uncheck the <strong>Export notes in vCards<\/strong> and <strong>Export photos in vCards<\/strong> check boxes.<\/p><p>If in Step 2, you choose <strong>File &gt; Export &gt; Contacts Archive<\/strong>, the contacts are exported as an ABBU file instead of VCF. Use the ABBU format to import the contacts back into a macOS application.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"import-apple-mail-contents,-including-contacts-to-ms-outlook\"><strong>Import Apple Mail contents, including Contacts to MS Outlook<\/strong><\/h2><p>Apple Mail stores and saves email data, contacts, calendar, etc. in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/what-is-olm-file-extension\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OLM format<\/a>, whereas Outlook for Windows is only compatible with PST files. Therefore, any import\/export of mail content requires conversion of the files. You can do this manually, but often the accuracy of manual method is questionable.
