Such a group allows a user to send emails to multiple users at once by using only a single recipient email address.<\/p><p>Sometimes, when opening the properties of a distribution group or mail-enabled security group, you get an error message, like:<\/p><p><code>The object removed has been corrupted or isn't compatible with Microsoft support requirements, and it's in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened:<\/code><\/p><p><code>The access control entry defines the ObjectType 'a8df73ef-c5ea-11d1-bbcb-0080c76670c0' that can't be resolved.\"<\/code><\/p><p>As you can see, the error message indicates that an item is corrupt or is incompatible with the Microsoft support requirements.<\/p><p>The issue might be related to several groups, one group, or group type. So, you should check if the problem is with a single entity or multiple entities.<\/p><p>The Object Type mentioned in the error message, refers to the <strong>Employee-Number<\/strong> in the Active Directory Object schema. You can try to reset the Internet Information Services. To do so, open an elevated Command Prompt and run the below command.<\/p><pre class=\"wp-block-code command_container\"><code><code>iisreset<\/code><\/code><\/pre><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"347\" height=\"158\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/iisreset-command.png\" alt=\"iisreset command\" class=\"wp-image-163843 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/iisreset-command.png 347w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/iisreset-command-300x137.png 300w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/iisreset-command-150x68.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 347px) 100vw, 347px\" \/><\/figure><p>When the services are reset, check if the problem persists.<\/p><p>It is also suggested to restart the actual server and see if the problem still persists.<\/p><p>You can also check the audit log to understand if any changes on the server might have created the issue or are stopping the Exchange Server from showing the properties of the group.<\/p><p>Another option is to <strong>check the Active Directory and make sure there are no &lsquo;Denies&rsquo;<\/strong>. There might also be connectivity issues between the domain controllers or the Exchange Server and the Domain Controller.<\/p><p>To check permissions,<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open <strong>Active Directory Users &amp; Computers, <\/strong>click the <strong>View<\/strong> menu, and enable the <strong>Advanced Features<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"426\" height=\"249\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Open-Active-Directory-Users-Computers.png\" alt=\"Open Active Directory Users Computers\" class=\"wp-image-163845 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Open-Active-Directory-Users-Computers.png 426w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Open-Active-Directory-Users-Computers-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Open-Active-Directory-Users-Computers-150x88.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find the group which is causing the issue and open its <strong>properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the <strong>Security<\/strong> tab and then click on <strong>Advanced<\/strong>. These accounts refer to deleted groups or users and might be causing the issues on the Exchange Server.<\/li>\n<\/ul><pre class=\"wp-block-code command_container\"><code><code>Account Unknown (S-1-5-21-#########-#########-#########-1835)<\/code><\/code><\/pre><blockquote class=\"note_alert\">\n<p><strong><em>Note:<\/em><\/strong><em> Before doing this, it is strongly recommended to take a backup of the Active Directory domain controller.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote><p>Once the unknown accounts are removed and the Active Directory changes are confirmed, try to access the properties of the Exchange Server group.<\/p><p>You can also try to run the setup of the Exchange Server with the Prepare AD parameter. For this, open the Command Prompt and run the below command.<\/p><pre class=\"wp-block-code command_container\"><code><code>setup.exe \/preparead<\/code><\/code><\/pre><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"256\" height=\"101\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/setup.exe-preparead.png\" alt=\"setup.exe preparead\" class=\"wp-image-163847 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/setup.exe-preparead.png 256w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/setup.exe-preparead-150x59.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/><\/figure><p>After this, try to access the properties of the group.<\/p><p>If the problem still persists, then reinstall the Exchange Server. This issue can impact the daily maintenance and jobs on the Exchange Server. Above, we have mentioned some possible solutions to resolve the issue.<\/p><p>During troubleshooting, if anything happens causing damage to the Exchange Server or corrupt the databases, then you need to restore the databases as soon as possible, without any data loss.
