You&rsquo;ll need to revert to the &ldquo;<em>Legacy Outlook<\/em>&rdquo; first. Now, follow the steps listed above to export emails.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-export-emails-if-the-export-option-is-greyed-out-in-the-new-outlook-for-mac?\">How to Export Emails if the Export Option is Greyed out in the New Outlook for Mac?<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some workarounds that you can use in case the Export option is greyed out in Outlook for Mac (New).<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workaround 1: Switch to Legacy Outlook<\/h4><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/roadmap?msockid=31b114ff1b2f60c80953026b1f2f66fd&amp;searchterms=&amp;filters=%5B%22Outlook%22%2C%22Mac%22%5D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Microsoft 365 Roadmap<\/a>, the Export feature is in the &ldquo;<strong>In Development<\/strong>&rdquo; phase. So, you&rsquo;ll need to switch to the Legacy Outlook and then use the <strong>Export<\/strong> option to save a copy of your emails as OLM file\/s.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As per Microsoft, the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-US\/Outlook\/end-of-support-for-legacy-outlook-for-mac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Legacy Outlook for Mac client will stop working<\/a> with user mailboxes configured with <strong>Exchange Online<\/strong>. This is because MS will retire the Exchange Web Services (<strong>EWS<\/strong>) from <strong>October 2026<\/strong>. Hence, you&rsquo;ll need to switch to the new Outlook to avoid any disruptions. In case you have <strong>Exchange On-Premise<\/strong> mailboxes, you can continue using the Legacy Outlook client until <strong>October 2029<\/strong>.<\/p><h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workaround 2: Request Admin to Revert Policy Blocks<\/h4><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, admins <a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365-apps\/outlook\/manage\/admin-controlled-migration-policy#enabling-or-disabling-the-migration-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">disable the migration policy<\/a> via <strong>Cloud Policy<\/strong> for M365 to restrict users from switching from New Outlook to the Legacy Outlook. This is done to prevent compatibility issues with certain applications that require integration with the New Outlook. Thus, the users are unable to switch to the Legacy Outlook. If this is the case, you can request your admin to revert the policy block.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-convert-olm-to-pst-or-other-file-formats?\">How to Convert OLM to PST or Other File Formats?<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you want to open the exported Outlook for Mac emails (OLM) in Windows Outlook, you won&rsquo;t be able to do so directly. This is because the OLM file format is a proprietary file format used By the Mac Outlook app. On the other hand, Windows Outlook supports the PST file format.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To open OLM in Outlook for Windows, you can convert the Outlook for Mac data file to the Outlook importable PST format by using <strong>Stellar Converter for OLM<\/strong>.
