However, despite being an advanced and agile storage tool, the storage disk may lose data due to the following factors:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Formatting and reformatting of NTFS\ndrive on Windows-based system<\/li><li>System malfunction leading to data\ndamage in the drive<\/li><li>NTFS file system is damaged, causing data inaccessibility<\/li><li>Repetitive formatting of NTFS partition data <\/li><li>Corruption in Master boot record leading\nto Inaccessible NTFS partition data<\/li><li>Virus or malware attack &nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><p>When the files stored on an NTFS partition become unreadable in\nany of these situations, it is a need to repair and recover the damaged NTFS\npartition data available on Windows. <\/p><p><strong>The following methods are helpful in retrieving the damaged NTFS partition data on Windows:<\/strong><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use CHKDSK utility to check and repair the file system.<\/li><li>Use data recovery software to retrieve the files.<\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"method-1:-use-chkdsk-utility-to-check-the-file-system\"><strong>Method 1: Use CHKDSK utility to check the file system<\/strong><\/h2><p>The Test Disk or chkdsk method checks the file system for the\nlogical and physical errors.
