It may unmount or fail to mount due to multiple disk failure or logical error\ncaused by <em>abrupt system shutdown, system\ncrash, power surges or failure, malware\/virus attack, <\/em>and<em> disk errors<\/em> etc. <\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-to-do-when-raid-5-fails-to-mount\"><strong>What to Do When RAID 5 Fails To Mount<\/strong><\/h2><p>When a RAID 5 volume fails to mount, the access to the data\nit contains is permanently lost. And there is no way to get it back other than fixing\nthe error. In most cases, it&rsquo;s rebuilding or reconstructing the RAID array. <\/p><p><em>However, before you\nhead to the rebuilding process, check the SMART status of all member disks. Use\nthe <strong>Drive Monitor<\/strong> or<strong> CrystalDiskInfo<\/strong> tool.<\/em><\/p><p>But a RAID 5 volume may <strong>fail\nto mount even after rebuilding process<\/strong>. It&rsquo;s a complex situation, and you\nshouldn&rsquo;t try to force mount the RAID. You may also use SATA to USB converter cables. <\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-red-color has-text-color\" id=\"h-step-2-check-drive-health-smart-status\">Step 2: Check Drive Health &amp; SMART Status<\/h3><p>Free download, Install, and run <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/windows-raid-recovery.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stellar Data Recovery Technician<\/a><\/strong> software. Show a list of\nprobable start sectors<\/strong>&rsquo; checkbox if you don&rsquo;t know or remember the start\nsector. Then choose one or more probable start sector(s) or add desired start\nsector in the text box if it&rsquo;s not listed in the checklist box<\/em><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Then click the &lsquo;<strong>Add Sector<\/strong>&rsquo; button<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"apply-gradient-on-post-images\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/screenshots\/windows-data-recovery-version-tech\/4.jpg\" alt=\"Windows Data Recovery\"><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose <em>Stripe\/Block\nSize; Select Parity Order\/Rotation<\/em> and then <em>select the parity repetition or delay<\/em> from respective dropdowns. <\/li>\n<\/ul><p><em>Select &lsquo;<strong>Don&rsquo;t Know<\/strong>&rsquo; from the\nrequired parameter drop-downs if you don&rsquo;t know or remember the required RAID\nparameters, and click &lsquo;<strong>Build RAID<\/strong>&rsquo;.\nThe software intelligently rebuilds a few probable RAID constructions, which\nyou can scan to get back lost data<\/em><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the &lsquo;<strong>Build\nRAID<\/strong>&rsquo; button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The software quickly reconstructs RAID 5 volume\nbased on provided parameters. After reconstruction is finished, constructed RAID 5 volume(s) is displayed in the &lsquo;<strong>Select\nConstructed RAID<\/strong>&rsquo; window. Thus, it&rsquo;s\nnot fail-proof and requires a backup. Follow the <em>3-2-1 backup rule<\/em> for critical data backup.
