Hit<strong><em>&nbsp;Enter&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>to select the SD card drive you want to format.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type&nbsp;<strong><em>list partition Y<\/em><\/strong>, (Y is partition number).Hit&nbsp;<strong>Enter.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type&nbsp;<strong><em>format fs=ntfs quick.<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;Hit<strong>&nbsp;Enter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once done, type&nbsp;<strong><em>exit<\/em><\/strong>. Type&nbsp;<strong><em>&lsquo;chkdsk&rsquo;<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;followed by the drive letter of your SD card, a colon and&nbsp;<em>\/f<\/em>. (For example,&nbsp;<em>chkdsk G: \/f<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hit&nbsp;<strong>Enter<\/strong>. The check and repair process begins. This may take several minutes to finish.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>Once done, a message appears in the command window &ndash; &lsquo;<em>Windows has made corrections to the file system&rsquo;.&nbsp;<\/em>Now you can access your SD card or format it as required.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-method-5-use-sd-card-formatter-software\"><strong>Method 5: Use SD Card Formatter software<\/strong><\/h3><p>When you are not able to format SD card using Windows Disk Management, CMD or other methods, try to format with an SD card formatter software.<\/p><p>An SD Card Formatter works on all types of memory cards used in DSLRs, Android, security cameras, etc. You can use it to fix SD cards that won&rsquo;t format on Mac or Windows computer.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-method-6-change-drive-letter-if-pc-cannot-detect-sd-card\"><strong>Method 6: Change Drive Letter (If PC cannot detect SD card)<\/strong><\/h3><p>You may want to format an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/sd-card-reader-not-showing-up-windows\/\">SD card that is not detected by PC<\/a>.
