The safer approach is to only try passwords that you are confident you have used before and only once or twice, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/how-to-recover-forgotten-apple-id-password\/\">password for your Apple ID<\/a>, computer, iPhone, emails, or other websites that you visit often. If you forgot your iTunes backup password, first reset the password. Next, create a new encrypted backup in iTunes.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Then use the <strong>&lsquo;Reset All Settings&rsquo;<\/strong> feature on your iPhone, which will remove the iTunes encrypted backup password. It won&rsquo;t delete your contacts, photos, videos, messages, and other personal data on the iOS device. But it will remove all the customized settings on your iPhone. Your ringtones, notifications, Apple Pay cards, location settings, privacy settings, etc. will be removed and set to default.<\/p><p><strong>Steps to reset the iTunes backup password:<\/strong><\/p><ul start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to iPhone <strong>Settings &gt; General &gt; Reset<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Reset All Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your iPhone passcode.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap <strong>Reset All Settings<\/strong> to confirm. Wait for a few minutes for the reset processes to finish.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>Next, connect your iPhone to your PC\/ Mac and create another encrypted backup of the current data using a new password. To do so, follow these steps:<\/p><ul start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Launch iTunes on your computer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the <strong>Summary<\/strong> tab. On the right pane, under <strong>Backups<\/strong>, select <strong>Encrypt local backup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"534\" height=\"233\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/5-1.png\" alt=\"set iTunes password \" class=\"wp-image-172812 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/5-1.png 534w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/5-1-300x131.png 300w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/5-1-150x65.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the <strong>Set Password<\/strong> box, enter a new password. Wait until the process finishes. A lock icon will appear next to your device name after the encrypted backup is successfully created. This will also overwrite your previous iTunes backups.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p><strong>Note<\/strong>: These steps are applicable for only iOS 11 and later users. If you are using iOS 10 or below, you can&rsquo;t reset the password. In such a situation, use an older iTunes or iCloud backup.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a>Method 2: Recover iTunes backup password via Keychain Access (For Mac users)<\/h3><p>As a Mac user, you are in a more favorable position. The software assists you in recovering iTunes and iCloud encrypted backup passwords.
