Running the Rebuild tool doesn&rsquo;t show any errors. But QB will not condense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How can I fix the condense error?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><p>The QuickBooks Condense error, or Condense Data error, may prevent you from using the company file (QBW). If rebuild fails, you will need to restore the backup before the data file is condensed. If there is no backup, you will need to repair the company file. But, let&rsquo;s first talk about the possible reasons behind the condense error.<\/p><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"554\" height=\"182\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/quickbooks-condense-error-2.png\" alt=\"Quickbooks Condense Error\" class=\"wp-image-93487 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/quickbooks-condense-error-2.png 554w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/quickbooks-condense-error-2-300x99.png 300w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/quickbooks-condense-error-2-380x125.png 380w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/quickbooks-condense-error-2-550x181.png 550w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Image Credit: Intuit<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"why-the-condense-operations-fails?\">Why the Condense Operations Fails?<\/h2><p>Following are some possible reasons why condensing a QB data file fails:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>QuickBooks&reg; Desktop application or Condense Data utility is outdated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are trying to compress a company file stored on another system in the network.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Insufficient storage to complete the condense operation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>QB file has negative inventory or negative quantity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>QB Desktop data file is damaged or corrupted.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>Try troubleshooting the condense error using some simple tips before repairing the data file to make it accessible again.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tips-to-troubleshoot-the-condense-error\">Tips to Troubleshoot the Condense Error<\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Update QuickBooks&reg; Desktop with the latest released updates and run the Condense Data utility once again. Ensure that your QuickBooks&reg; Desktop application is updated. If not, install the latest updates and run the Condense utility again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the QBW file is stored on another PC, copy the file to the local drive and then compress the file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure you have free disk space up to 10 GB before condensing the company file.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>If you&rsquo;re still experiencing the same issue, try to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/quickbooks-file-repair-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repair the company file<\/a> and then condense the file.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-repair-and-condense-quickbooks-company-file?\">How to Repair and Condense QuickBooks Company File?<\/h2><p>Following are a few solutions to fix the QB Desktop data file. After completing the repair process, try condensing the data file.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-solution-1-use-the-quickbooks-file-doctor-tool\">Solution 1 &ndash; Use the QuickBooks&reg; File Doctor Tool<\/h3><p>Running the File Doctor Tool can help fix corruption in the company file. See Intuit&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/quickbooks.intuit.com\/learn-support\/en-us\/help-article\/damaged-data\/fix-company-file-network-issues-quickbooks-file\/L9ZWWVewC_US_en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">article<\/a> for detailed information on using the File Doctor Tool to resolve your company file issue.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-solution-2-repair-negative-inventory-in-the-data-file\">Solution 2 &ndash; Repair &lsquo;Negative Inventory&rsquo; in the Data File<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the QuickBooks <strong>Reports<\/strong> menu, hover over the <strong>Inventory<\/strong> option, then click <strong>Inventory Valuation Summary<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you find an item with incorrect values, double-click on it to open the item&rsquo;s <strong>Inventory Valuation Detail report<\/strong>. You can see all the transactions for the item listed in order by name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Double-click on the first bill in the list. This opens the &lsquo;Enter Bills&rsquo; screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change the bill&rsquo; date to a date ahead of the first invoice listed on the &lsquo;Inventory Valuation Detail report&rsquo; you opened in Step 2.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the <strong>Save &amp; Close<\/strong> button to record the bill with a new date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Repeat Steps 2 till 5 for each item with incorrect entries.<\/li>\n<\/ul><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-solution-3-use-a-quickbooks-file-repair-tool\">Solution 3 &ndash; Use a QuickBooks File Repair Tool<\/h3><p>If nothing works, use a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/file-repair\/quickbooks-recovery\/quickbooks-recovery.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">QuickBooks&reg; file repair tool<\/a> like Stellar Repair for QuickBooks&reg; Software to fix the corrupted QB data file.
