However, migrations can be a headache, especially when you have issues. Also, you have to ensure the consistency of data and confirm that all the data has been migrated with no loss. Sometimes, you encounter issues during migration. One of the common issues is the quota error. This can happen to specific or all the users.<\/p><p><strong><em>Error: Mailbox size 6.527 GB (6,834,336,719 bytes) exceeds target quota 2 GB (2,147,483,648 bytes).<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>The error is quite straightforward. You can see that the quota has been exceeded for the specific migration.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"investigate-following-to-troubleshoot-&lsquo;mailbox-size-exceeds-target-quota&lsquo;-issue\"><strong>Investigate Following to Troubleshoot &lsquo;Mailbox size exceeds target quota<\/strong>&lsquo; I<strong>ssue<\/strong><\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Check if the mDBUseDefaults attribute is enabled<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><p>This can be checked from the on-premises Exchange Server or the Active Directory server by using the <strong>Active Directory Users and Computers<\/strong>. For this,<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the <strong>Administrative Tools.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the <strong>Active Directory Users and Computers.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><p>Here, you need to change the view to Advanced to see the object&rsquo;s attributes. To do so, follow these steps:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on <strong>View.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Advanced<\/strong> <strong>Features.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"416\" height=\"243\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/advance-features-active-directory-and-computers.png\" alt=\"advance features active directory and computers\" class=\"wp-image-96273 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/advance-features-active-directory-and-computers.png 416w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/advance-features-active-directory-and-computers-300x175.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 416px) 100vw, 416px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find the affected user, right-click on it, and select <strong>Properties<\/strong>. In the <strong>Properties<\/strong> window, click on the <strong>Attribute<\/strong> <strong>Editor<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"398\" height=\"203\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/attribute-editor.png\" alt=\"attribute editor\" class=\"wp-image-96275 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/attribute-editor.png 398w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/attribute-editor-300x153.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 100vw, 398px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find the <strong>mDBUseDefaults<\/strong> attribute and make sure the value is <strong>FALSE<\/strong>. This can be done by highlighting the attribute and clicking on the <strong>Edit<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"364\" height=\"158\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/mDBUseDefaults-set-to-false.png\" alt=\"mDBUseDefaults set to false\" class=\"wp-image-96278 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/mDBUseDefaults-set-to-false.png 364w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/mDBUseDefaults-set-to-false-300x130.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 364px) 100vw, 364px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on <strong>False.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>OK.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"275\" height=\"188\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/choose-false-boolean-attribute-editor.png\" alt=\"choose false boolean  attribute editor\" class=\"wp-image-96279 apply-gradient-on-post-images\"><\/figure><p>After this action, retry the import of the mailbox.<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Migrate the affected mailbox to another database on on-premises Exchange Server<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Once you have loaded the <strong>Exchange Admin Center (EAC)<\/strong> and logged in with the necessary user, click on <strong>recipients<\/strong> and then click on <strong>migration<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"726\" height=\"290\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/exchnage-admin-center-migration.png\" alt=\"exchange admin center migration\" class=\"wp-image-96280 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/exchnage-admin-center-migration.png 726w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/exchnage-admin-center-migration-300x120.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 726px) 100vw, 726px\" \/><\/figure><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on the arrow near the <strong>+<\/strong> button and click on <strong>Move to a different database.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the users to move and click <strong>Next.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give the migration a name in the <strong>new migration batch name <\/strong>button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select if you are moving just the mailbox, archive, or both.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the target database where you want to move the mailbox and the target archive database for the mailbox archive.<\/li>\n<\/ul><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"520\" height=\"273\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/move-primary-mailbox-and-archive-mailbox.png\" alt=\"move primary mailbox and archive mailbox\" class=\"wp-image-96281 apply-gradient-on-post-images\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/move-primary-mailbox-and-archive-mailbox.png 520w, https:\/\/www.stellarinfo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/move-primary-mailbox-and-archive-mailbox-300x158.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/figure><p>Once this is done, retry the mailbox import.<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Check if there is any limit on actual mailbox in Office 365 environment<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><p>This can be checked using the command <strong>Get-Mailbox<\/strong> (as given below). This will list any quotas that might be imposed on the mailbox\/s. This would need to be done after you connect to the Exchange Online PowerShell.<\/p><pre class=\"wp-block-code command_container\"><code>Get-Mailbox &lt;email address&gt; | FL<\/code><\/pre><p>This will show all the details of the mailbox. Some of the fields to look into are:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Issuewarningquota<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prohibitsendquota<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prohibitsendreceivequota<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>If there is a quota set on the mailbox, you can use the Set-Mailbox command in the Exchange Online PowerShell to increase the quota accordingly (see the below example).<\/p><pre class=\"wp-block-code command_container\"><code>Set-mailbox &lt;email address&gt; -prohibitsendquota &lt;size in GB example 10GB&gt; -prohibitsendreceivequota &lt;size in GB example 10GB&gt; -issuewarningquota &lt;size in GB example 10GB&gt;<\/code><\/pre><ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Check the subscription and license assigned to the user<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><p>If you have an Office 365 Business Basic and Standard, the limit is 50 GB. The Enterprise licenses have a limit of 100 GB and the smaller subscriptions have a 2 GB of size limit.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"wrap-up\"><strong>Wrap Up<\/strong><\/h2><p>Working with Exchange Server is great.
