How can I recover my lost emails from IncrediMail and ThunderBird email clients?

 Modified on: February 25, 2013 |    19268 views

Stellar Recovery for Mail can save your years of effort by safely reclaiming all the lost, deleted, or inaccessible emails in your ThunderBird and IncrediMail email databases. The tool is equipped to scan and recover multiple files simultaneously. During the recovery process, the software extracts attachments along with your messages and does not modify the original data.

Recovering Mails from 'IncrediMail' (.IMM) or 'ThunderBird' Files:

Run Stellar Recovery for Mail. The main interface appears along with the 'Select Mail Client' dialog. In this dialog, select 'IncrediMail' or 'ThunderBird'.

Next, the 'Select File/Folder' dialog is displayed. Click 'Select File' to select a single IncrediMail or ThunderBird file. After selecting the file, click 'Start Recovery' to initiate email recovery process.

If you need to recover mails from multiple files, click 'Select Folder' in the same dialog. This will allow you to choose a folder containing multiple IncrediMail or ThunderBird files. When you select a folder, a new 'Select Files' dialog appears. In this dialog, choose the files you need to recover and click 'Start Recovery'.

You can also search email files in a specific drive. To do so, click 'Find File' button in the 'Select File/Folder' dialog. Specify the drive to be searched and the type of file in the 'Find File' dialog. Mark 'Search Subfolders' checkbox to scan subfolders as well. Click 'Start' to begin the search. After completion of the process, all the files found are listed below 'Search Result'. Select the desired file and click 'OK'. Click 'Start Recovery'.

The software starts scanning the selected email files and lists them in the main interface for preview. When you select the desired file from the left pane and a message in the top right pane, the contents of this email are displayed in the bottom pane.

Select the 'Root' checkbox in the left pane and then click 'Save Mails' icon on the tool bar. Specify a destination to save the recovered emails and click 'OK'.

When the process is completed, a pop-up dialog appears showing the message 'Selected file(s) repaired and saved successfully'.

Hello folks..

I have just had a major disaster.. i just backed up my Thunderbird local folders from a Gmail POP account that contained almost 30,000 emails with attachments. Ten years of my life's communications, essays, stories, love letters, business, receipts, contracts, including every attachment I have ever sent or received. I then deleted them ALL from the online Gmail account.

I then backed up the entire Thunderbird 'mail' folder onto an external drive and then erased my Mac's drive and did a clean install of Mountain Lion.

When it came to restoring the 'mail' folder back into Thunderbird the external drive slipped off a 4 and a half foot high ledge and landed at an angle on concrete. It shattered. It's totally dead.. and with it went ten years of my life and existence.

So.. I am wondering. Using Stellar Mac data recovery.. what search criterion would I use to attempt to find the original 'mail' folder and/or contents that was on my Mac's hard drive? Which files do I need to try to find in the hope of getting some if not all of my emails back?

Any and all advice appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Maxx..

Stellar Mac data recovery can recognise a logical damaged hard drive or an unmounted drive. In case of physical damage, we don't guarantee the recovery with the software as it may fail to detect the hard drive when connected to Mac OS. You need to check this if the SPMDR is showing the damaged hard drive in the list of volumes when connected.

If it shows then go for RAW Recovery feature which is advanced scan and wait until the process is done.

In case the HDD is not recognised by the tool then you have to opt for data recovery services. The HDD needs to be analyzed by experts in a Class 100 Clean Room Lab.

Hi Frank,

Please let us know whether you wish to recover the deleted emails of Incredimail or do you have MBOX file exported.
