 Modified on: July 26, 2021 |    14432 views

Accidental deletion of hard drive partition is not very common, but Windows users at times come across this. If you are also one of those, then you need not panic as Stellar Windows Data Recovery Pro is the solution for you.

(More information - 6 Free Ways to Recover Lost or Deleted Files) The partition recovery tool allows you to search for all lost or deleted volumes and lets you recover the data on these volumes.

For example, in the figure below you can see there are total of 3 volumes listed C, D  (Under 'Device and Drivers'). However, there is one partition has been previously deleted.

Stellar Windows Data Recovery Pro can scan the complete hard drive for list of deleted hard drive volume and you may find it under the lost volume scanned results (you'll need to check for 'Can't Find Drive' option to search for the list of volumes).

  • Choose a box of the required data and click Next. The next interface will let you select the desired location from where you can recover your data or a drive.

  • In the above-shown interface, you will see a ‘Can’t Find Drive’ option, with the help of which, we can recover our lost or deleted partition or a drive. Select Scan. It will take you to the list of the hard drives connected to your system.

  • Use the Search Button option visible under the hard drive listing and find the list of drives of a selected hard drive. The volumes will appear by the name of ‘Std Vol.’. You can choose the desired volume by clicking on the Check box and press Scan.

Hello Debnath,

Welcome to Stellar Support.

It would be great if you could answer to few questions as it’ll help us in providing better and accurate solution.

Are you able to see hard drive in file explorer Window as you normally do?
Try replacing connective media or use different USB ports and then restart the software again. If all goes well, the hard drive will be listed in the targeted data recovery option.

If you’re facing problem particularly with this option, try using different hard drive and see if this time you might able to see it. If yes, your hard drive is probably gone damaged and needs to be repaired.

Good luck in advance!!

Is it necessary to have it scan an entire hard drive before recovery? I had an issue with my Drobo Pro where one of the volumes are corrupt and I can't access it now. It was set up as a 16TB volume. From my rough calculations it would take over a week straight just to complete a scan. I was able to run a test quick scan with data recovery and I cancelled it after about 30 minutes of scanning. It showed the entire folder tree and data that was available.

Thanks!

Hello AL,

You can separately run scan for any individual volume by going to Drive Recovery > select any of the listed partitions. Quick scan is relatively faster than any other recovery methods but useful if you don't have time to thoroughly scans the problem media or volume.

For better results, I'd recommend to select your desired volume and let the software scans it. Make sure that you've enough power supply/backup plan for uninterrupted scanning of a day or two.

Post back if you need any more assistance!!

Hello.
I am currently running a "RAW" scan on a 1TB external hard drive. It is already running for 24 hours and has only scanned some 60 million clusters of the 1.9 Billion clusters on the drive. At this rate the scan only will take more than a month! Is this to be expected? Can I interrupt the process without doing more damage?
Please help.

Hi Cees,

That's reasonable time as the drive stage is unknown (weather the file system is corrupt or going through severe hardware damages). I'd rather suggest you to take an image of the complete hard drive which will considerably take less amount of time (just a few hours). You can make use of the 'Create image' option under 'Advanced options' tab to create image which you can use later to perform recovery.

Feel free to revert with the results and I'd be happy to assist you further.

Good luck!!

hi Stellar Team,

Thanks for creating such an awesome data recovery software... I used advance recovery option and got all my files listed of 1 TB. But there was only one twist in it....I just am able to preview 10% of files through preview images option. rest 90% of images are coming in some what ASCII format of 0's and 1's. just feeling dicey if it would be recovred the same then there is no point in it.

Please revert if you have come across any strange feedback of 0's and 1's.

Thanks,
Romal

Hi Romal,

Glad to hear that you can see your files in the preview pane.
Software can’t show preview of files that were pretty large in size or software can’t recognize the proper file format to sync it with library files and show the preview of files. So there is nothing wrong if you can’t see the preview.Try saving your files to any desired location after registering the software (which costs you around $99) and see if you can normally access them. Don't worry if you aren't satisfied with the results as we've 30 days money back guarantee.

Give it a go and share your response. Would be happy to assist you further.

Hi guys, i've ran an array of recovery software post a clean & format from diskpart that decided to erase more than the targeted drive....
Volume 2,4,5 are found within each program, but nothing seems to be finding volume 3 were all my personal files are located.
The only files recovered are system volume information / recovery / system files
Any idea?
