Stellar Data Recovery Professional software is scanning my disk for a long time. Can I pause or stop the scan?

 Modified on: January 19, 2021 |    6702 views

When you select a drive or location to scan, the software first runs the ‘Quick Scan.’ If the software automatically starts to perform ‘Deep Scan’, it will take more time to scan the entire drive.

The software takes time scanning the drive when the size of the hard drive is too large or consists of a lot of bad sectors. For a large-sized hard drive, wait until the scanning process is completed.

However, if the drive has bad sectors on it, we suggest you create an image of the hard drive using the ‘Create image’ option. Then use the image to speed up the scan process and prevent any damage to the drive.

You can’t pause the scanning process. But you can stop the scan. Once you stop the scanning process, you’ll only be able to save the scan information and recover data only up to that point.

Note:  If you are concerned about the poor health of the hard drive, you can monitor the disk health and SMART status using Stellar Data Recovery Professional. It will help you keep real-time track of the drive performance and health.
