Stellar Data Recovery has stopped working! What to Do Now?

There could be several reasons related to system hardware, software, and connectivity that could stop ‘Stellar Data Recovery’ tool from working. Below are some tips and solutions that can help you avoid such issues with the software.

  1. While saving the recovered data, always choose a different drive. Never save the recovered data on the same drive or partition to avoid data corruption and software crash
  2. Unplug all non-essential USB devices connected to the system to avoid interference. E.g. printer, USB dongles, and other non-essential peripherals
  3. Run the Software with ‘Administrator Rights’
  4. Close all running applications to avoid conflicts. There may be a situation where the Stellar Data Recovery software is not able to access important files of the Operating system or the permissions required for recovery process due to conflicts between the apps for resources
  5. Check for any loose connection between the storage drive and the system. Frequent disconnection causes Stellar Data Recovery to stop working
  6. Ensure there’s enough storage space available on the destination drive or volume to accommodate recovered data. If space is less, use an external storage drive as a destination to save the recovered files.
  7. If you are using a laptop to recover data from an external hard drive, plug-in the charger to ensure optimal flow of power supply to the hard disk. Usually, laptops on battery power are not able to supply enough current to the external hard drive that is required to spin the hard drive at full speed (5400 or 7200RPM).
  8. You can also perform selective recovery to overcome this problem. To perfom selective recovery follow below steps:

a) From the main "Select What To Recover" screen go to the "Advanced Settings" tab.

b) Then go to the second icon on the "Adavanced Settings" tab.

c) From the avialable list of options select the file format you need to recover and then click "close" button.

d) Follow the on screen recovery steps then. The software will only scan for the files you had selected.

After 17 hours Stellar Phoenix appears to have stopped 3% into stage 6. Nothing is moving and time elapsed has stopped. Is there anything I can do?

Hello,
Stellar Data Recovery professional stops at Phase 6 of 7 during the deep scan. Windows generates a "stopped working" prompt and only allows you to close the program. YOu then have to start all over. It has done this at least three times. Windows 10. Thanks

i use stellar to scan my external HDD (which i have for like 500 GB) for like 3.5 days and when it finally done scanning, it stop working at phase 6 of 7 and now i have to re-scan it for another 3.5 days or what should i do now ??? please help

Hi I have been scanning my 1 tb hard drive for nearly 2 days and now it has stopped at 93% on phase 6 this has done this 3 times. I have followed your advice on website and disconnected all usb devices and it still freezes at phase. I'M starting to think the software is no good for windows 10.

In case you have formatted the drive than we recommend to perform the scan with 'Can't Find Drive' option available in the software.

If your files were deleted and software is getting crash during normal or deep scan than we believe that there are bad sectors in the drive. In such case, please create an image of the drive using Stellar Data Recovery Professional software to skip the bad sectors and recover your files.

As per your query, scan was completed in the software however while you were checking the files than product got crashed. As you have mentioned that software got crashed at 98% so this would have happen during the scan on your drive.

Kindly let us know the reason of data loss and at which stage software got close so that we can guide you accordingly.

I purchased Stellar Phoenix Data Recover and it use to run fin. Now, every time I attempt to start the program, it gets to the main screen and within 5 second the program closes for no apparent reason.

Two times in a row now, Stellar Data Recovery has stopped at 26% into phase 6 of 7. The program is not frozen but all the numbers have stopped moving for hours both time I tried doing a scan. It stopped at 26% both times.

hi i just downloaded the software and the scan stopped working at phase 3 saying 100% but the posted left time said 30 hours left. Should I restart or just wait for hours or days?

I'm at phase1 of verification (creating tree), and it stopped at 94%. If I hit stop, can I continue recovering the details found so far? I'm satisfied with what it found until now.

Kindly let us know the exact name of the Stellar software you are using for recovery and also confirm whether you are trying to recover the data from an internal drive or is it an external drive such that we can provide you with an appropriate solution.

However, if you are using Stellar Data Recovery for Windows software then you can save the scan result of any scanning process as a DAT file. You can save the scan result of a complete or incomplete recovery process. Saving scan information saves your time. You can resume recovery by selecting the DAT file without scanning the drive again. If you stop a scanning process, you can save scan information up to that point. However, you should perform the complete scan, and then save the scan result.
