Apple mail is a popular mail application supported on OS X operating system. There are various versions released till date, the latest being the Mail 7 for OS X v10.9 Mavericks. However, if you are using Apple Mail, there could be probably a time you might want to switch to another Mac, or maybe you purchased a new Mac and want to move your mail items like messages and other associated components to a new Mac.

Moving your Apple Mail to a new computer may look difficult, but it is much easier than it looks. You can easily import Apple Mail on a different Mac in a few easy steps.

Note: Your email account should be on the Mac from where you are importing, not on the Mac to which you are importing.

Following are the steps to import Apple Mail to a different Mac device.

4. Once the Mail folder is copied, you need to copy the preference file as well to the external drive.

6. Connect the external drive to the new system.

7. Copy the Mail folder and the preferences file to the new Mac device in its respective Library and Preferences folder.

8. Launch Apple Mail application to see all your imported mail items.
