    1. It’s been quite a few years ago that I had Picasa and all of my sons wedding pictures and all there baby pictures are on picasa.i don’t know the email or password for it on Picasa.can I still somehow get them back?

      1. Hi Lisa,
We understand your concern. While if you don’t remember the email or password, it’s worth a try to logging into Picasa Web Albums (now Google Photos Archive). Visit https://picasa.google.com/ and see if you can log in using any emails you might have used in the past. You can also try logging in through a private browsing window.

    2. My husband was an avid photographer, and we took many trips during our marriage, and he took lots and lots of photos. At family events he was the onofficial photographer. We both used Picassa for photo grouping and editing because it was easy to use, and worked well.

My husband passed away about a year ago. I had been working on his desktop computer using Picassa to edit and group photos from our many trips so I could make photo books for each trip. I remember him telling me that he was intentionally not updating the PC operating system on that computer because he wanted to continue to use Picassa and didn’t want it to stop working. I left the computer on for a couple of weeks without working on it. Yesterday I went to Picassa and all the photos were gone! I called a computer repairman and he said I must have deleted them. I didn’t! These are all of the memories I have left of my husband. I’ve been trying your suggestions to no avail. But the first suggestion is to recover a Picassa backup from a storage device. He bought an external backup device to backup the photos, so I plugged it in to try to find this backup. Please, what should I be looking for? I don’t see anything that says Picassa. And I’ve looked at all the files I can find that say pictures or photos, but I can’t find the ones of our trips that were in Picassa. Please help!

      1. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your husband and the trouble you’re having with your photos. Let’s see if we can find the backup files for your photos.
First, let me explain that Picasa is an image organizer and editor software that was discontinued by Google in 2016. Picasa stored your images in a folder on your computer’s hard drive, and it could also create backups of your photos on external devices.
Here are some steps to try to locate your backup files:

Connect the external backup device that your husband used to back up the photos to your computer.

Open File Explorer on your Windows computer or Finder on your Mac computer and look for the external backup device. It may be listed under “This PC” or “Devices and drives” on a Windows computer or under “Devices” on a Mac computer.

Once you have located the backup device, look for a folder that contains your photos. The folder may have a name like “Photos” or “Pictures.”

If you cannot find a folder with your photos, try searching for files with the extensions “.jpg”, “.png”, or “.raw”. These are common file types for digital photos.

If you still cannot find your photos, you may need to use Photo recovery software to scan the external backup device for deleted files such as Stellar Photo Recovery.

      1. There are several differences on the subject of Picasa pics and Google pics. However your Google photos you may get admission to, edit, and share Picasa albums’ snapshots and videos. Picasa photographs were pretty similar in some regards; however, the carrier changed into targeted at the laptop software. While, Google pics lets users add and proportion snapshots, in addition to searching, classifying, and grouping pictures into different categories. You can Import Picasa pics from net Albums.
