Reasons Behind Hard Drive or Flash Drive Failure
‘Data loss events are quite common and are met often due to failure of the storage media, such as a hard drive, USB flash drive, SD card, or a like data traveler. Though data recovery is feasible today, it does not mean to be careless about your crucial data, and then run in hustle for a reliable source to recover lost data intact. In scenarios like losing one or more files unknowingly or due to unintentional deletion, data recovery is easier and sometimes productive up to 100 percent. In contrast, physical failure of a storage media requires meeting data recovery experts.’ – Be quick in whatever step you take and recover lost hard disk data at the earliest.
Even though you have a productive option in front of you to get back your lost data, it may not be any easier for you to have faith in a data recovery company being able to retrieve lost data intact up to 100 percent. However, you eventually have to go for at least one of the options you have in order to bring it back to life. In this post, I am going to discuss data loss scenarios coming into view due to storage media corruption along with systematic way to recover it.
Data Loss! Don’t Panic
You cannot rely upon a storage media or drive to keep your data secure from every single threat. In fact, the drive might be keeping your data secure, but who takes guarantee of its own to survive flawlessly over its entire lifetime? When such a device fails, it leads to data loss that generally comes out to be huge.
In a data loss situation, you do not need panic and take necessary action to recover lost data in its original state. Before that, make sure you stop using that media for further storage.
Ensure for Media Failure
Storage media, such as flash drives, SD cards, and USB external drives are plug and play devices that you must handle with adequate care. Place such devices at clean places and protect them from water, heat, and excessive pressure. If your computer fails to detect your flash drive, try attaching it via a different USB port to check if the port is working fine. If it still fails to detect, try attaching it to another computer, as the USB ports your computer have malware infections. If nothing works out, this flash drive is damaged and you’ll need to use software to recover flash drive data.
“USB Device Not Recognized” Error
Sometimes, on attaching a USB drive to a computer, a pop-up saying, “USB Device Not Recognized” shows in the notification bar. When you click the pop-up, a dialog showing issues with the USB port opens. Well, this is not always due to USB port malfunctioning, it might be due to corruption in the USB drive itself.
Computers Fail to Read the USB
In case of corruption in the USB drive, the USB ports of your computer fail to read it. In such scenarios, no notification pop-up appears. If no activity occurs in the computer on attaching a USB drive, the drive most likely is corrupt. You may check if it works on any other computer to ensure the corruption is in the drive itself and not in your computer. Failure of computer to read the USB drive denotes corruption in the USB drive.
Looking for Data Recovery Source
When you ensure for corruption in the USB drive, the productive step you need to take is to look for data recovery professionals. Take the help of the Internet and Google an appropriate keyword like data recovery companies suffixed by your nearby geographical location. On the Google search result page, one by one check the links and select one or two amongst them.
Choose Reliable Recovery Source
Once you have the list of different names and further information about data recovery centers nearby your location, go through their websites and read about their services and related fare. Make sure you check the customer testimonials and figure out their experiences with company’s services. If feasible for you, then visit the locations and discuss the complete scenario.
Select the Service Package
Usually the companies providing services like this offer different schemes and packages. Amongst those packages, choose the one that suites your requirements appropriately and not to forget your budget. For the same, you may have to visit multiple companies or service centers and note down the details and prices offered by different service providers.
Convenient Pick and Delivery Option
If you take data recovery service online, the factors playing key roles include both pick and drop services for the corrupt media. Such service providers do not require you visiting their office, as they arrange the pick and drop facilities. You just need to take their service and pay accordingly. If it suites your criteria, prefer a similar service and avoid extra fret.
Successful Data Recovery
If the service providers successfully recover your data out of the corrupt or damaged media, they usually save it on CD/DVD or the hard drive, based on the size of the data recovered.
As far as physical corruption in the media is concerned, it is necessary to contact the experts and take required help. Besides, since data recovery is not possible in such scenarios even using commercial data recovery software, better will be if you act smart and quick to get your lost data recovered at the earliest.
Another informative blog from Stellar. We all are using storage devices in many different forms and hard devices are the most widely used. For me, the vast experience of over 2 decades by this company, are enough to trust their products and speaking honestly results are even more beautiful.
All the reasons mentioned about storage devices failure are highly technical and rarely to see in blogs and articles. Certainly, Stellar Data Recovery is my choice for future, in the case of any hard drives issues.
Data loss is inevitable and any loss due to it can bring lots of emotional and financial worries. Even I multiple times face such issues in past, when I had tried above mention software which are producing excellent results for me. One important issue which I want to highlight here is to recover the lost data at earliest by any best means either with the help of software or take advice of experts. The more we delay, the lesser the chances of data recovery.
Yes, I too agree with the views of the author. That in the case of data lost, take necessary actions as soon as possible, because the chances of data recovery are maximum during first 24-48 hours, our data may be later overwritten. So the best practice is to take regular backups.
Data loss is the very common scenario and can happen with anyone. Once my 16 GB Samsung USB drive was not detecting on my system. Due to unavailability of backup, I tried Stellar software and recovered all of my data.
Nice write-up. Also, appreciate the words of Edward that taking multiple back-ups of our valuable data and keeping them at several secured places whether it is your home locker or a bank locker (depending upon the data) will never lead you to face a data loss issue. Thanks for sharing information with us.
Sometimes, we all become irresponsible while taking care of our hard drives. We realize their importance once they gone affected, which results us in pain situation of data loss. It’s better to have a strong decision of taking multiple backups of valuable data and placing them at different and safe places. Thanks for the blog.
No one can judge the life of any storage media. The best practice is to take multiple backups of the storage devices and keep them at different places to avoid the problem of data loss. Thanks for the blog.
Until you don’t know the exact season of data storage media failures, it was recommended not to do any unnecessary testing by your own. Because in past, I lost my precious data while doing similar things. Always take help of a reliable data recovery software or data recovery experts in retrieving your data.
Hello All,
Hard Drive failures are very common these days. The data can be recovered by using efficient data recovery software or services. Always look for the best method, otherwise, chances of data recovery is minimal.
