Stellar Disk Wipe v1.0 is a file eraser utility for all system files, data files, previously deleted files, locked system files, and hidden files. This data eraser product does this by suitably selected algorithms to overwrite the whole disk.

The software is available as a bootable CD, through which you need to boot your computer. The file eraser software wizard consists simple instructions that allows you to wipe the disk with just four clicks. Each window of this disk wipe utility contains proper information of using and applying the utility.

Software Introduction Window

As you boot your computer, the primary window of this disk wipe software gives a brief introduction about the software. The description states about the software capabilities and benefits of using this hard drive wipe software. The bottom of window shows following buttons :

• Back (disabled)
• Next (to continue to the next window)
• Cancel (to exit from the application)
• Help (to open the help file of software)

Disk Selection Window

To select the target disk, you need to select the 'Next' button in the previously described window. The 'Disk Selection' window displays all the disks (along with information like, disk no, size, and model) that are connected and detected by the host system. The data shredder allows you to select them as per your convenience.

The bottom of window displays the same buttons as of last window and with same functionalities, but with the exception that 'Back' is enabled and allows you to go back to previous window.

Choose Wipe Method Window

The third window of this hard drive wipe utility lists different (precisely 12) wiping algorithms. You can select the desired wiping algorithm and click 'Next' to continue with the next step to overwrite data.

As you select the algorithm, the software displays its short description under 'Algorithm description' section displaying at the right-bottom corner of window. The bottom window displays the same four buttons.

Note: The algorithms are listed with the fastest one and highest data overwriting speed at the top. As you go down, the number of passes roughly increase.

Start Disk Wipe

This is the last stage of data destruction on your disk. The final window shows the sum-up of the chosen options, including the disk number, disk size, model number, serial number, and algorithm. So, before going for permanent data erasure, you can revise your options (with 'Back' button at bottom of window). You can click 'Finish' button to complete the process.

• Confirmation box : When you click 'Finish', the hard drive wipe software asks for the last confirmation whether to proceed with the disk wiping or not. You can click 'Yes' to continue or 'No' to exit.
  Note: Make sure you have backed up all the important data before wiping the disk. The disk wipe software deletes all the data, which can never be recovered by any software or hardware utility.
• Disk Wiping box : If you choose 'Yes' in the confirmation box, the software starts wiping the disk. The 'Disk Wiping' box displays the overall status of the process with a status bar and simultaneously changing parameters, like data wiped, data to be wiped, and time remaining. You can click 'Cancel' to cease the process.
