Stellar Phoenix PST File Splitter v2.0 includes a range of options that can be used to Split PST File as per requirement. With this PST File Splitter, you can split a single or multiple PST file(s) on the basis of e-mails exchanged (sent and received) within specific time range or on the basis of PST file size. Using single file split options, you can also extract e-mails by folders or by e-mail ID. This is a special tool that even allows you to split a single file on the basis of date range.

The main interface of the Split PST software comprises of two main tabs: 'Split Single File' and 'Split Multiple Files'. These tabs are further sub-divided and include various options, as mentioned underneath :

Split Single File

Once you click this tab, a new 'Single File Splitter' window opens that has four main options :

Select PST File: The 'Select PST File' option allows you to navigate and select the required PST file from a known location.

Find PST File: If you don't know the exact location of your PST file, 'Find PST File' option lets you search different drives and folders on your computer for files with PST extension.

Change Destination: The PST File Splitter takes the original file location as default to restore the split files. However, with the use of 'Change Destination' option, you can change the destination to the one you require.

Split PST File: When you click 'Split PST File', its displays another window where you can specify the criteria to split the file. The options to Split PST are mentioned under 'Select Splitting option', which are:

By Date: Selecting 'By Date' option allows you to split a single PST file with e-mails sent or received in a date range. It further gives you two options listed under 'Option Description':
- 'in the last' option allows you to split the PST file with e-mails sent or received in the last 'x' number of months.
- 'between' option allows you to split the PST file with e-mails sent or received between a required date range.
By Size: Selecting 'By Size' option lets you slice the PST file on the basis of a specific file size. You can choose any size limit between 200 MB and 2 GB under 'Option Description' and hence specify the size of each slice individually at a time.
By Mail ID: Selecting 'By Mail ID' option lets you extract e-mails exchanged (sent or received) with specific mail IDs. All e-mails with the specified mail IDs in 'To', 'CC', and 'BCC' fields are extracted. As you select this option and click 'Next', it starts the file scanning process to retrieve all unique mail IDs the file contains and shows them in a list, from where you can choose the needed mail IDs.
Select & Split: Selecting 'Select & Split' option allows you to create a separate PST file containing only the required folders. As you click on this option and click 'Next', the application lists all the folders found in the file and lets you select the required folders.

Split Multiple Files

You can split multiple PST files located at different locations (even at networked disk) or at a single location (in a single folder) in a single operation. This feature further offers two main options to split the PST file by 'Time' or 'Size'.

Split by Time: Selecting 'Split by Time' option allows you to specify and split multiple PST files on the basis of required time interval. On Selecting this, you get a 'Multiple File Time Splitter' window having options listed in the table below.
Split by Size: Selecting 'Split by Size' option allows you to specify and split multiple PST files on the basis of required file size. On choosing this, 'Multiple File Size Splitter’ windows pops up that again gives various options enlisted in the table below.

Note: In case of 'split by size’, the file size should not be less than 200 MB.

Split by Time and Split by Size follow a common approach to select the PST file - 'Select Folder', 'Select File', and 'Select Batch Files'.

What are the various options available to split multiple PST files ?

Stellar Phoenix PST File Splitter v2.0 offers an advanced feature to split multiple PST files by two parameters, such as 'Time' and 'Size'. Both of them follow a common set of approach to select the PST file.

Go through the table below:

Select Folder This option lets you select a folder, in which multiple PST files have been stored. On selecting the folder, all the PST files saved in that folder are displayed in a separate box. You can then select the required files to split on the basis of time or file size and then click 'Next'. After you select the files,another window - 'Customize Split Options' opens up. Here you can define the criteria to automate the split process. Various criteria on the basis of which PST needs to be split can be defined as follows:
Split by Time	Split by Size
Start Date: Allows you to specify the starting date for each file. End Date: Allows you to specify the ending date for each file. Destination Path: Allows you to specify the destination path to save the split file.	Destination Path: Allows you to specify the destination path to save the split file. Split Size: Allows you to define a file size for each file to split
Note: Each of the above described criterion has an associated 'Apply Upto File Index' column following it. This allows you to apply settings for splitting of one PST file to a number of files following it.
Select Files This option lets you select multiple files located at different locations on fixed and networked disks. This opens 'Input PST File' dialog box. In this dialog box, you can select the files individually and then define the split criteria for them. Main options available here are: Select PST File: Lets you browse and select required PST file. Select Destination: Allows you to select the destination location of new file, which by default is same as that of original file. Add PST to List: Adds the selected file to the list of files that need to be split. Remove PST: Removes the selected file from the list of files that need to be split.
Split by Time	Split by Size
Select Start Date: Lets you define the starting date to split the file on its basis Select End Date: Lets you define the ending date to split the file	Select Size: Lets you define the file size to split the PST. The size can vary from 200 MB and 2000 MB (2 GB)
Select Batch Files This option allows you to load a user-created or application-created batch file. The Split PST File software allows you to create and save a batch file as .dat file each time you end the process of defining the split criteria. Also, you can create your own batch file as .txt file with required settings, and split criteria. Note: To know how to create a batch file, refer 'How to create a Batch File?' section below.

The PST File Splitter creates a new folder with name same as of original Outlook profile at the destination location. If the folder name for two different files is same, the application fails and opens a 'Pending PST Files' window and allows you to define a different folder name to restore the file.

Points to be noted:

You can also use 'Split by Time' option to split a single PST file on the basis of various date intervals.
After the application finishes with the file splitting operation, it creates a software log report and prompts you to save it at a desired location with .log extension. This log records all the software activities plus the number of folders in original and split PST files.

Choose location for saving the software log report. After all this, the split PST file will be saved at the specified location.

Specify a destination path to save the log file. The split PST file will be saved at the specified location.

How to create a Batch File ?

You need to follow the below steps to create a batch file:

Open a new text file in Notepad.
To create a time-defined batch file, the format is:
- Root location of first file;Destination location of first file; Start date of first file (in MM/DD/YYYY format);End date of first file (in MM/DD/YYYY format);Root location of second file;and so on...
- To create a size-defined batch file, the format is:
- Root location of first file;Destination location of first file;Size value of first file (in MB, acceptable values: 200, 300, 400,.....2000, no fractions accepted)
- Make sure no space is inserted in the above parameters and the parameters are separated by semi-colons.
Save the .txt file at the required location.
