How to Import Lotus Notes NSF Files into MS Outlook

Enterprises are continuously preparing them to be as quick in their communications. In that line, if users are still on Lotus Notes Email Client, it’s time to give it a thought. While Corporates prefer Microsoft Outlook due to its popularity amongst users; Lotus Notes trails way behind.  Reason being the complex user interface of Lotus Notes. Also, Outlook profile can be accessed with multiple machines as against Notes which is can be accessed through the configured machine only. The rising popularity and ease of use have forced users to migrate from Lotus Notes to MS Outlook and import NSF files into Outlook. Step 1: Method to Export Lotus Notes

  1. Open the program “Lotus Notes”
  2. Click and open Mail tab
  3. Select “File” option from the Menu bar
  4. Next, click on Export option to start export Wizard
  5. Select location on the system to save the newly created file and select a file format to save Lotus data into compatible “Tabular Text” or “Structured Text”. Both formats are Outlook compatible. With structured text, select the options to export in PST file. Comma separated values should be exported by defining the exporting requirement in CSV export dialog box.
  6. Click on Export to complete the process.

Step 2: Method to Import Exported file in Outlook

  1. Install MS Outlook on the system
  2. Click on File menu >> go to “Import and Export” option and click on it
  3. From the drop-down menu, select “Import from another program” or file in “Import and Export wizard”. Click on Next to proceed further.
  4. From Import a file wizard pops-up, choose Comma Separated Values from the available options. Click Next
  5. Choose the desired file using “Browse” option to import in Outlook. Click Next to proceed further
  6. The next step is to choose the required file using “Browse” option to import in Outlook. Click Next to proceed further
  7. Click on Finish button to initiate the importing process. Files will be imported to required Outlook Mailbox folder.

Files may take some time to complete. Wait until the process is complete under the processing unit of the system.
