Stellar Phoenix Linux Data Recovery v4.0 provides different Linux Recovery options through various tabs embedded in the software. These tabs are Data Recovery, Resume Recovery, Advanced Options, and Recovery Services.

Data Recovery Tab :

The very first tab of this Ext2 Recovery software includes Quick Recovery, Advance Recovery, Deleted File Recovery, and Search Lost Volume features.

Quick Recovery performs standard scan of hard drive and generally recovers recently deleted files.
Advance Recovery performs extensive scan of media.
Deleted File Recovery scans hard drive to recover only deleted files.
Search Lost Volume option scans media for lost/deleted volumes.

Resume Recovery Tab :

This options is used to select the previously saved scan information or image file to resume recovery. The option is helpful in performing recovery in stages. Both the drive image and save scan information are saved in the form of .img file. You can directly select the .img file through browse option and recover data out of it.

Advanced Options Tab :

How do I recover my Deleted files using Linux recovery software ?

Double click on the logical drive from which you want to recover the deleted data and then click on 'Deleted File Recovery' icon.
The software will scan and display all the recoverable files in the tree view.
Now, check mark the files that you want to recover and click on 'Recover Selected' Icon or Select 'Recover Selected' from the File menu and select the destination folder where you want to save the recovered files (make sure do not recover the files on the same drive from which you want to recover the data) and click 'OK'.

Once the procedure is complete, you can access the recovered files from the destination folder that you have assigned to save your data.

How do I recover data from formatted drive ?

Please follow the below steps to recover the formatted data :

Open Stellar Phoenix Linux Data Recovery software. You can see all the drives physically connected to the system in the left hand panel. You will also be able to see logical drives under this section of the software.
Double click on the logical drive from which you want to recover the formatted data Click on 'Advance Scan' icon.
The software will scan and display all the recoverable files in the tree view.

How do I recover data from a deleted partition ?

Open Stellar Phoenix Linux Data Recovery software. You can see all the drives physically connected to the system in the left hand panel. You will also be able to see logical drives under this section of the software.
Double click on the physical disk displayed in the left pane of the software.
Click the first icon i.e. Search for logical drives. Then Select 'Advance Search'.
As soon as you click the icon, the software will start searching for the lost logical drives.
When searching is complete, all the lost drives in the disk will appear in the left pane in tree view under physical disk.
Double click on the standard/advance drive from which you have to recover the lost data and then click on 'Advance Scan' icon
The software will scan and display all the recoverable files in the tree view.
Now, click on 'Recover All' and select the destination folder where you want to save the recovered files (make sure do not recover the files on the same drive from which you want to recover the data) and click 'OK'.

How can I save the scan information for the later use ?

To save the scan information, go to 'Tools' menu in the program and select 'Save Scan Information' option and select the destination folder to save the '.dat' file (make sure do not save the file on the same drive from which you want to recover the data). Once you saved the scanned information you can open the same by going to 'Drives' menu in the program and selecting 'Open Drive Using Scan Information' option and try to recover the lost files (make sure do not make any hardware changes on your system after saving the scan information).

How do I recover data from the hard disk having bad sectors ?

We would suggest you to create the image of the drive using the software and try to recover the data from the image. As the software will create the image of the good sectors of the drive and skip the bad sectors.

For the same double click on the physical disk in the software and click 'Create Image' and then save the file to another drive (make sure do not save the image file on the same drive from which you want to recover the data).

Then import the saved file in the software by going to 'Drives >> Open Image file'. And then perform the scanning on the image file and then recover the data.

How do I only recover all my word and excel files after completion of the scan ?

To recover Microsoft word and excel files after completion of the scan procedure. Follow the below procedure :

Select the 'File' menu and click on 'Add File Filter'.
Select 'Office Documents' from the drop down menu and click on 'Add'. All office documents' file extension will be listed in the window.
Remove all other file extensions except extensions .doc or .docx , xls, xlsx by selecting them and then click 'Remove' other than Excel and Word file extensions, and click on 'Include'.
Now, click on 'Recover All' and select the destination folder where you want to save the recovered files (make sure do not recover the files on the same drive from which you want to recover the data) and click 'OK'.

Once the procedure is complete, you can access the recovered files from the destination folder that you have assigned to save your data.

How do I only search for image (jpg, png etc) files in raw recovery ?

Follow the below procedure to recover image files with 'Raw Data Recovery'.

Open the Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery software. You can see all the drives physically connected to the system in the left hand panel of the software.

You will also be able to see logical drives under this section of the software

Double click on the physical disk from which you want to recover your data and in the 'Raw Data Recovery' area, click on 'Known File Types' link and a window will popup.
Then click on 'Unselect All' button. Then select the file type which you want to recover and click 'OK'.
Now click on 'Raw Data Recovery' icon to start the scanning process.
The software will scan for your selected files and will display a tree structure of all the files found on the drive grouped together according to different file types. Now, click on 'Recover All' or 'Recover Selected' and select the destination folder where you want to save the recovered files (make sure do not recover the files on the same drive from which you want to recover the data) and click 'OK'.

Yes, I recovered the importend part of my lost data sucessful. I used your Software Linux Data Recovery on a ext3 Partition. At first I was wondering, that it is a windows software for a Linux file system and was happy to the very fast parts of my lost data. After few tries I was able to recover some files, but all of them has a file size of zero bytes. I tried again and could recover in a second step the first files. I was happy. After the 4th day trying and doing I was able to recover the most importend data for me and could intergrate them into a new installed Linux system. Thank you for your great software. I will still keep it in my mind.

Another question - I recovered my data on my office pc in the company I am working for. Now I do not need the software anymore and would like to delete it and install it on my home pc with the license - is this possible ?
