Hard drive damaged in MacBook Pro Mid-2012 (APFS structures not readable even in Mac recovery mode). Cannot access macOS or data

If your MacBook Pro Mid-2012 hard drive is damaged and you can’t read or access the drive in recovery mode, you can use dedicated Mac data recovery software, such as Stellar Data Recovery for Mac. Other ways you can try to recover data from a damaged Mac HD/system

A. Use External Drive as a Bootable Media

Connect an external drive to your unbootable system and install Mac OS on it. Once the OS is installed, choose to boot your Mac system with the external drive. Doing so will make your Mac HD a secondary drive. You can now install Stellar Data Recovery for Mac and proceed to recover data.

B. Connect Mac HD to another PC

You can also try disconnecting your MacBook Pro Mid-2012 HD, plugging it into another working PC, and see if you can install Stellar Data Recovery software and restore data.

C. Seek a Professional Service Provider

Even after trying all the methods, if you can’t recover data from the hard drive, it may be physically damaged and require manual inspection for recovery in our Services Lab.
